Hi, I'm polycurious. I feel really intellectually resonant with polyamory and relationship anarchy, it just makes sense to me and I can see how if more people were acclimated to it, the world could be a more beautiful place -- less jealousy, more love, more fulfillment, more resilience, more community, etc. I notice some parts of me that are naturally inclined to a more open way of living, like wanting to have deep emotional intimacy with a lot of people, and not elevating my sexual partner to a higher status than my friends. However, there are some aspects of polyamory that turn me off, like the idea of actually having sexual relationships with multiple people at the same time, that still just sound scary and unstable and messy and shallow.
I wonder how you got into poly and why you stay in it. Is it a natural inclination, where that's just the easiest and most natural way for you to be? Do you think that some people are just naturally drawn one way or the other, some naturally geared for poly and some for monogamy? Or rather is the decision driven by an ideological affinity, intellectually recognizing that it's a healthier way to be, but feeling resistance in your biology that you slowly learn to overcome for the greater good? Or a mix?
