Daniel: You guys?
Nichole: What? I really think Lexapro is really working for me. Ooh, nice. It's really fucking working for me. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Nice. I've had a couple of instances where, I think previously these things would've sent me into a total fucking panic. Mm. Yeah. Things with the relationships, things with work, I have a thought. And then that thought just kind of floats away.
Daniel: Um,
Nichole: Is this how normal people feel?
Laurel: This is so akin to my journey of getting on medication, I was just like, wait, are you fucking kidding me?
Like people feel. Like this
Daniel: Uhhuh.
Laurel: Yeah. This is fucking fantastic. Yeah, yeah.
Daniel: people talk about a light going on or feel like they're kind of embraced a little bit by the, serotonin hug or anything. I don't know if I felt that so much as, like, I just noticed after a couple days that there used to be like a red alert sound effect that was going on in the back of my mind mm-hmm.
All the time. And I was like, huh, where's my red alert? Mm-hmm. It's missing. Mm-hmm.
Nichole: Yeah.
Laurel: You know? I didn't know that people didn't wake up with frantic anxiety in the morning. I didn't know that. That's not just how you woke up in the morning.
Nichole: Yeah. I didn't know that an errant text or like a monosyllabic text wasn't supposed to send you into a shame spiral about how you're an unworthy person.
Daniel: I mean, was the monosyllabic text bitch?
I mean, I witnessed this in real time. Yeah. So. You got a text where a partner was not available for a sleepover that you imagined might happen.
Nichole: Yeah.
Daniel: Right. you were so proud of yourself when you came up to me. I was, you were, you gave, you gave what I might call like a performative shrug.
You were like, uh, redacted partner is not available for a sleepover this week.
Nichole: Shrug. Well, yeah. Like, I mean, I, I had the thoughts of like, oh, it's because he wants to break up with me. It's because he doesn't like me anymore. It's because like blah, blah, blah. And then I was like, well, I had two thoughts. I was like, okay, if he's no longer feeling NRE or whatever, like, that's not on me.
Yeah.
Daniel: Yeah.
Nichole: If he is busy also Yeah. Has nothing to do with me.
So why can't I just enjoy the time that we're gonna have together? Yeah.
Daniel: So, you know, when I was, when I was in college and I was writing literary papers, as we like kind of moved through, you know, the history of Western philosophy.
You got, thinkers who progressively kind of expanded this idea of the aperture of self and that there was a lot of literature that was informed by this. And I think that like an SSRI is a little bit of a shortcut. And you don't have, you don't have to read so much Emerson, right?
You just, you just, you just take an SSRI and then you get the transparent eyeball shit, you know, stews, are you tired of reading so much Emerson?
Have you talked to your doctor about Ralph Waldo Emerson? so anyway, it is a painful existence to have a very narrow sense of self because you're always afraid because you're always protecting this little like, nugget of like, where yourself, hood
ends.
Nichole: Yeah.
Daniel: an SSRI, for me, just kind of blurred that boundary a little bit.
allowed me to think it's not all about me, which Yeah. Which you said in, in two sentences. But, but, but Daniel won't be you, but
Laurel: Daniel needed to bring in his literature degree. Literature. Literature.
Nichole: I just wanna say you are welcome.
It will be easier for you to exist around me.
Welcome to Poly Amateur Hour. I'm Laurel. I'm Daniel. I'm Nicole. And I'm medicated.
Laurel (2): Part of my journey of getting medicated.
Laurel: . , Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Laurel (2): was being reluctant at first. ' ' I, I think I was just so deep in depression that there was some part of me that believed that it was part of my personality. Mm-hmm. Like it was part of who I was. Mm-hmm. And if I got medicated, there's the stereotype that you're gonna become like a zombie, that you're just like a zonked out feeling less zombie mm-hmm.
On meds. And that, that would somehow make me like more devoid of personality.
Daniel: Yeah.
Laurel: now in retrospect is absolutely insane. because I have more capacity.
Nichole: Yeah. For everything.
Daniel: I'm embarrassed that it took me so long to get on an SSRI too.
'cause I was worried about my bone. Mm-hmm. But there are other drugs for bone.
Nichole: Yeah. Now if the medical establishment could just get on female Viagra.
Daniel: we call it poly amateur hour.
Laurel: Your daily dose of female Viagra. Wanna make your lady wet?
Daniel: Not when you see it like that.
Laurel: You don't like that? You didn't
Nichole: like that? I just got an idea. Ooh, what is it? Okay, I think we should do, um. A commercial that's like the late night, um, sex hotlines, like talk to horny singles or whatever. It's all like Vaseline lens and like lighted candles and we're asking people to listen to Poly amateur Hour.
Oh, I like that. Yeah. I
Daniel: thought you were gonna say like you were tr gonna try and convince them to get on antidepressants. Have you longed to just luxuriate in your senses without the haunting uncertainty?
Laurel: Have you wanted to read Emerson without reading Emerson?
As I slide a rose down my body between my breasts,
Daniel: Have I ever told you about the rose between the breasts poster?
Laurel: I immediately thought about the rose popping out of the vagina.
Nichole: What?
Daniel: Oh yeah. Oh. I had this sexting partner who had amazing fucking Kegel control and fucking. Put Rosebuds in her vagina and then like laid them one by one. Wow. Wow. Yeah. Anyways, the poster. I know. Yeah.
I wa I was, uh, traveling in Europe staying with a yoga cult as one does. Oh yeah. , I was chopping wood and stupidly somehow ended up chopping like part of my thumb off, like a little flappy bit. Ugh. Bandaged it up. holding my thumb and went and hitchhiked to try and get to a check.
Rural hospital. How did you hitchhike without a thumb in the Czech Republic? well, I had like a bunch of gauze and like tape around it and it was quite dramatic. Ah. It was a little bit of like, even cowgirls get the blues kind of sissy Hank Shaw situation.
Nichole: Oh, totally. Yes, absolutely.
Daniel: So somebody that me to the hospital. it feels like it was like , a high school that was like converted into a hospital. Like this is, this is, you know, close. There's a
Nichole: basketball court.
Daniel: Yeah. so I like go to see the doctor and he like, looks at my thumb and he is like, okay, yeah, we're gonna give you some stitches. and then I start to notice, behind the doctor, like at his desk, is this large, glossy poster of a topless woman holding a rose between her breasts.
Laurel: Okay.
Daniel: the woman is in black and white and the rose is like, oh, in red, red. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Would you mention the poster? Oh, depends on the vibes.
Nichole: I would 1000% mention the, the poster.
Daniel: The poster is its own vibes. Like what are the vibes? It's like a Dr. Ache situation. Right.
Nichole: I mean, I would probably mention it because I do believe that medical staff are just a captive audience for my jokes.
Daniel (2): So I said nice poster. And he looked up at me with just like the barest rye smile. This was like, like not bits to the doctor, but the doctor doing a bit. He looked right at me and said.
eat this for relaxation.
Laurel: See, those are the vibes where I might not have asked.
Nichole: you might not know this, but Laurel, you might know this in almost every, I already know what you're talking about. Yep, yep. Every gynecologist's office. There is art or something on the ceiling that says breathe. Ah. Or like an ocean. Yeah. Or butterflies. Like there's something to distract you from the horrific things that are happening between your legs.
Laurel: I wanna say that the, the Planned Parenthood that I went to in Boston, I think there was like one of those like, hang in there cat posters.
Daniel: So, so this is like, they don't care about women's health at all. And they're like, okay, we're gonna be swabbing men's dicks. And this is like, this
Nichole: is the way we're gonna get them to relax.
Daniel: This is the way we're gonna get them to relax.
Nichole: Yeah.
Daniel: I feel like that would like put you at ease though. Like Now in retrospect, I'm like, that's some fucking Nicole ass art right there.
Nichole: Just 'cause I have the eighties ladies like hung around the basement that are all, you know, breaking the tiniest sweat.
Lifting the tiniest, tiniest dumbbell. Tiniest two pound weight. Yeah.
Daniel: Yeah. But they are making eye contact like they're at war. Yeah. They're gonna war.
With fat. Yeah,
Nichole: because it's the eighties, you weren't allowed. Mm-hmm.
Laurel: Mm-hmm. Speaking of not being allowed, Daniel's not allowed in the gay rapper chat.
Daniel: Oh, yeah. I I got some pretty tough news from the, from the astrological doctor today.
Laurel (2): we had Esteban, the God Houston rapper the first gay Houston
Daniel: rapper. the best gay Houston rapper. Oh yeah,
Nichole: yeah,
Daniel: for sure.
Absolutely. Yeah.
Nichole: Yeah.
Daniel: Esteban, the God, a while ago, Dalia, dolia Bell Mixed Dolia Bell turned us on to Esteban's music like I went down a little bit of a rabbit hole and just like fell in love with. His music. you all need to go and check out Esteban's. Yes, yes. Content online. on SoundCloud Band Camp, also on Spotify. so , I couldn't resist. Mm-hmm. I had to reach out and Esteban is so fucking cool. Yeah. He was like, oh yeah, of course I will. Come on your podcast.
Nichole: Yeah.
Daniel: And he said I
Nichole: was cool. All right, well we better roll tape so we can get to that moment.
Yes.
Estevan: I like had a date and he had cats and I was allergic uhhuh and I didn't even know. And the cats was like all on me. Just, and like it got really bad, but I didn't know I was allergic to cats.
Nichole: I mean, cats, cats also are trying to steal your soul. So Yes. You know, it's like we're all somewhat allergic to cats. I'm sorry Laurel, I'm really sorry. I know that you have one and that's why
Estevan: I don't have a soul. They're to your soul, they're trying to take you to different portals like Coralline, Uhhuh.
Yes.
Laurel: Yeah. That's why. Yeah. I live in alternate dimension and I have a collection of souls that aren't mine, but I have no soul myself.
Daniel: This is, this is the reason why, , like Laurel, when you just stare at me when I say things sometimes that's when I get uneasy is because it's what cats do.
Nichole: Yeah. Literally what she was doing to me when I was talking about cats stealing my all, she was like,
Estevan: and, and dogs versus cats.
It's like they do silly stuff, but like I'm on TikTok and I'm seeing like cats are like. Knocking mirrors on top of you while you on the ground. Yeah. Like they are really like shady.
Nichole: Yeah. They're trying to kill you. Yeah. Every cat, every
Estevan: cat is a murder cat.
Nichole: Yeah. They're on door honey badgers.
Estevan: Yeah. Most definitely.
Nichole: Yeah.
Estevan: But you have, I feel like with cats you have to have done something.
Nichole: I don't think so. I think they just
Laurel: don't like you. They
Daniel: look at me like they know what I've done. Yeah.
Estevan: Right.
Laurel: Yeah. They're omnipotence
Estevan: kind of like they know what you're going to do, so they're just gonna get you before.
Laurel: Yes. Yes.
Nichole: My God
So Esteban welcome. Mm-hmm. would love, if you could give a little introduction. my number one question always of our guests is like, what is your polyamory journey?
Estevan: Okay, so first I'll start off with I am Esteban, the God. , I like to call myself the first gay rapper in Houston, Texas. 'cause I'm like the only one that's actually claiming to be gay, you know? Mm-hmm. I know it's other ones, but I'm the only one that's actually saying, Hey, I'm a gay rapper. So, um, I've been rapping a rap artist since like the age of 12.
my aunt, her name is Million Dollar Girl, she, uh, basically introduced me to the industry 'cause she came home with like her little CDs and stuff. Mm. And I was like, this is what I wanna do. So, I had another aunt, her name is Charlene, and she became my manager.
Daniel: Mm-hmm.
Estevan: And she kind of like took me to fashion shows around Houston, like Macy's fashion shows and at malls and stuff.
So I did all that type of stuff. Aw. and then after a while I got older and started doing like. Underground stuff. I would say around 2012 is when I became Guapo, which is my other persona, Uhhuh, and that was doing like hippie hipster eras, like Tumblr was out, uh
Daniel: Backpack rap.
Estevan: Backpack rap. Yeah. But mostly, and, but still kind of putting my Houston elements in it. And, I wanna say as time progressed I was just doing different stuff with different people. And at one point I, I wanna say around 2016, I met, , Megan Stallion. You guys know who she is and, oh, um, oh, we know this is before, before she was the Megan, uh, and we did like a cipher and we like have songs and stuff when was rapping and stuff.
Daniel: Oh, was that, when, was that when she was just Megan? A stallion?
Estevan: Yes. Two of me. And, well, I'll say she was she's tall uh, she was definitely a stallion. Um, then, you know, I kind of been in the Houston scene underground scene, just really pushing and, and doing different stuff.
the other question, how I view polyamory, it's kind of something that I've always wanted to do, I have a thing about me to wear. I wanna be like in a relationship, but then, like, I don't, like, I like to be left alone. I'm a Pisces. Mm-hmm. So, we want to be loved, but we wanna be like left alone too.
I don't know, I'm just not attracted to monogamy, I don't wanna be with one person. I want to be free
Daniel: mm-hmm.
Estevan: But still have like, a bond or mm-hmm. Like a soul tied, a lot of the people, that I do kind of have interest in have to have like that understanding. And most of the ones that do are into it.
Daniel: The only problem
Estevan: is they just don't live in Houston.
Daniel: Ah, okay.
Estevan: Can we cuss on, on? Oh, oh, yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just wanna be around people that don't give a fuck.
Don't give a fuck. I want to be into two people. I wanna be into three people. It, it, whatever, you know? Yeah, it is. that's what I want to hear. And I just don't hear it a lot in Texas. Really?
Daniel: We've had to, I'm here for, we've had to learn a lot of the insider lingo kind of against our will, like mm-hmm.
Like, you know, we don't wanna be the educated ones around non-monogamy and polyamory. Mm-hmm. But now, you know, because of our fucking podcast. Uh, but what you describe as far as what you wanna do reminds me of the concept of Solo Poly. Have have you heard of like, the idea of Solo Poly?
Estevan: No.
Laurel: Solo Poly, like, a lot of people describe it as like they're their own primary partner and Got you. So it's like, There's a certain level of like, independence that they really mm-hmm.
Desire. Mm-hmm. And okay. most people who practice solo poly they don't wanna cohabit with a partner. Right. They don't, they typically don't wanna, like, get married, or like entangle finances. everything you think of as a relationship milestone in a monogamous relationship, right.
They're like, I don't want any of that shit. like, they still have serious relationships with people. Mm-hmm. , It's just that like, there's a certain sense of like autonomy and privacy and like a, like a higher level of like, differentiation from their partners
Estevan: I think I am that then. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. I think I'm, I'm, I'm that, but I I think I wanna experience both.
Laurel: Yeah. Yeah.
Estevan: because I think I'm more solo Poly.
Right. As of now, because I just haven't found, uh, like the right people.
Laurel: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I think
Estevan: once I find the right people, then I probably wouldn't be.
Daniel: Uh,
Estevan: solo Poly.
Daniel: You know, that, uh, the Lizzo song uh mm-hmm. Soulmate, , right. Like that , feels like a solo poly anthem with, without ever actually saying it. Talking about like, yeah, she's, I'm my
Estevan: own soulmate.
Exactly. part of the reason that we've invited you here today is to talk about. Houston music. Yes. Um, so, so that you will think that I am cool for knowing about obscure, obscure Houston hip hop artist from the nineties.
Okay. Look, I'm, I'm down for it. I'm down. I think you're cool. You are cool. You, you hit me up and you was like, Hey, we don't wanna do this. I wanna do that. So you have to be a cool person to hit, somebody up from a comedian and shout out to her because I like, I was like so obsessed when I seen that.
Daniel: Oh yeah. We might try and like, call Dalia on a speakerphone She just got, she just got bottom surgery. She got a brand new pussy installed, so.
Okay. Okay. she is like drugged to the max. Oh, I was like texting with her. I was texting with her yesterday. I was like, oh, if you have any questions for Esteban, let me know. She did send me a couple.
But they, but, but they are not going to be, coherent. Lemme see. Yes. Uh, okay. Uh, um. W what's your favorite anal gang sign? '
Estevan: my fa Okay. My favorite one I would say is probably when they do this, I don't know what this is, it's the curl of the fingers.
Daniel: Yeah.
Estevan: It's not necessarily a particular gang size, boys would do this thing where they like do the whole gang sign thing or like they do the whole dabbing each other up and like you're getting ready to walk and they'll do it right in front of you and you just sat there and you just wait Yes.
Until they finish. Yeah. So I'm not Finn I'm not gonna interrupt y'all
Daniel: and then, how is the booty down in Houston?
Estevan: It is, is variety. see, 'cause you know, back in the day it used to be like, oh, you know, the brown people were only packing the white people got butts. Now that you know the Italians, oh my God. Like, especially like those Jersey boys. Oh my goodness. Like
porn is so accessible now, I think they even know what to do now with it. Mm-hmm.
Daniel: Yeah. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Estevan: So it's just like, everything's here like a buffet now.
Daniel: And honestly I love to hear that over the last 40 years, like.
Among the many, many wonderful things. which hip hop has given the larger culture is like caring about butts. Yeah. Yes. Like that has, gone. Yeah. Universal. Yes. Okay. But thank Is it,
Laurel: is it, yeah. but is it cultural appropriation or is it just reverence for the booty?
Estevan: Hmm. That's a good question.
Laurel: Yeah. I need to know. Yeah.
Estevan: Um, I would say, it's not cultural appropriation because the white boys didn't had it, you know, but they would just wear certain pants so you wouldn't really see it. Mm-hmm. That was your problem in
Laurel: GenCos. Yep. That's, yeah.
Estevan: Like it's certain white boys that's online that I wanna run into, but I never meet them.
I always meet like the sugar daddies and don't get me wrong, like they cute too, but it's just like, You want the country. Country, like cornbread, redneck.
Daniel: Oh yeah.
Estevan: Trailer house. Those be the ones that will shock you. Yeah.
Daniel: You want the ones that are hot enough where you wanna be the, the sugar supplier.
Right.
Estevan: Yeah, yeah,
Daniel: yeah, yeah. Sugars the sugar, but I don't need to see them. They be
Estevan: hiding the sugar baby white boys, they be hiding. I don't know where they be at.
Laurel: Okay. This is a call to all, all our sugar baby white boys. With the booty out there,
Daniel: you're probably gonna have to go to a trailer park That's,
Laurel: yeah.
Estevan: Yeah. A trailer or a, or Austin. They're probably in Austin.
Daniel: Yeah, actually. Yes. Yeah, yeah, that's true. Yeah. Alright. What's, how, how else are they getting through college, right? Yeah. What's
Nichole: dahlia's next question.
Daniel: Uh, do all gay rappers secretly know each other? Um, I'm glad that Dahlia Su Yeah. Dahlia, I'm glad that Dalia supplied these questions so that Yes, like they do.
I can put these in my mouth and I'm like, it wasn't my fault. Wasn't my fault.
Estevan: Oh no, it's perfect. She, as long as they know it's do, they're like, oh, okay. I'll answer it. But yes, we do. We do. We do. And all we know of someone that knows, like a mutual.
Laurel: Yeah.
Estevan: Um, Yeah. All the gay people know each other, so it's no different.
Mm-hmm.
Laurel: Yeah. Do y'all know, we all know each other. Do you have a group chat? Gay rappers group chat?
Estevan: Um, you should start it. I think we do. I know, I think we do have a gay rappers group chat. Yes. God. Um,
Daniel: am I queer enough to join the gay rapper group chat? This is what I want to know. Hmm.
Estevan: I don't think so.
Daniel: I don't
Nichole: think so.
Estevan: I don't think so. Like, I think, I think with the gay rap scene, you have to really, um. Be gay. Like really, really be gay. Not, not
Daniel: gay. Not just an occasional foray.
Foray. Right.
Estevan: Which is more, yeah, it's like 24 7. Yeah. Um, seven days a week every day. Yeah. Gay. Yeah.
I think the only time I'm not gay is, if I want something, like, if I want something, I, it gets really manly. Like, and the what I want could be gay as hell, but I'm gonna get it.
I'm gonna get it. I'm gonna get, it's gonna, the voice is gonna get deeper. Everything is gonna switch up. So, yes. Oh
Daniel: my God.
Estevan: and
honestly, to me, and this is just me personally, I don't think dick sucking is really that gay anymore.
Daniel: He, you know what?
Interesting. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I gotta up my game. Yeah. Yeah.
Estevan: All right. Yeah.
Daniel: You're gay. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Estevan: Like highlights. Maybe we'll do it for you. Oh. Uh, a little Shih tsu or something. You know, a Birkin.
Daniel: I do have a little dog.
Estevan: Yes.
Laurel: You gotta you gotta carry her in a bag. Yeah. And
Estevan: you have to wear an Ascot as a white man.
Like, where are all the white men with the Ascot?
Daniel: I may not have a literal Ascot, but I, I have a lot of, uh, ascot adjacent clothing. You really do. My whole wardrobe is pretty, is pretty fucking Ascot adjacent. True. Okay. Well, that's perfect. But I'm gonna go, that's perfect. I'm gonna go and I'm gonna go and circle up.
I'm going to ask some hard questions about my life. Yeah. And I'm gonna come back at some point, you know, and see, see what I can do. And,
Laurel: and submit your new application.
Daniel: Exactly. Yeah. To the
Laurel: gay rep
Daniel: chess. Yes. Okay. Okay. Oh, we were gonna talk about some songs
Nichole: Yes, yes, yes, yes. Songs
Daniel: for our segment. Is this, is this Paul?
Is this is, is is it Polly?
this is going to be an all classic Houston hip hop edition of is this poly, which means we've had to stretch the rules a little bit and kind of squint and be like, is this, is this poly? Because that's how much I wanna talk about Houston.
Nichole: What's the first song?
Daniel: cartoon orgy
Kay Reno. I know that group sex is not, necessarily poly in and of itself, but if it's all cartoons,
Nichole: what, where does that sentence end? They're just so full of love. They have so much love to give.
Daniel: There's something so, so over the top about it. Like it feels, transcendent. Like every single cartoon that you can possibly imagine in one gigantic never ending gang bang. Yes. And the cartoon orgy seems like something that might always be going on or something like, he just goes to the cartoon orgy.
is it like a place, is it like another dimension? Like in a, in like a Twin Peaks kind of way where you
Estevan: or a channel Yeah. You know,
Daniel: yeah.
Estevan: You got, you have your Cartoon network Orgies.
Laurel: Yeah.
Estevan: You have your Nickelodeon and I think it's a different type
Laurel: That is
Nichole: true. Like pick your vibe.
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Estevan: yeah, yeah. I think I'm more Cartoon Network.
Nichole: I was gonna say Adult Swim would be a nasty orgy. Yes. Oh, that
Estevan: would be disgusting.
I think I'm more Cartoon Network mixed with Boomerang.
Boomerang is like your Jetsons and the old cartoon.
Nichole: Ah, yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Totally. Yeah.
Daniel: And since this was recorded in, uh, 1993, or at least it was released in 1993, it is, I think all those vintage cartoons that are gonna make you feel real weird about picturing them fucking because they're like part of your primal childhood.
Yes. Yeah. Yeah.
Estevan: I'm kind of into that though, like the cartoon porn. But it gotta make sense. I could see it, I could definitely see Daphne from Scooby-Doo. Yeah.
Nichole: Yeah. Oh, a thousand percent. Yeah. Like, '
Daniel: I mean, I think we're more team Velma in this house. Yes. You know, we're we like, we like the one with glasses and the turtleneck. Yeah. You know?
Estevan: Yeah. Yeah.
Nichole: So Comedy Bang Bang, has this bit every Halloween called the Monster Fuck. Where this guy sings the Monster Mash, but it's the monster Fuck. And it's all the monsters fucking each other. Uhhuh. And I'm thinking he ripped off Cartoon Orgy
Yeah. Yeah. So I am throwing down the gauntlet and I am saying comedy. Bang, bang. Explain yourself, explain You are ripping off black artists.
Estevan: And look, he probably saw it 'cause I, I'm not gonna lie, I was listening to it. I was like, that's actually a good idea. So I understand. and honestly. As a rapper, it takes a certain skill to really take these characters, know the information about them.
Daniel: Yeah.
Estevan: And, and, and incorporate it into a song. So Kay Reno, really study, like, he really watched cartoons to know that he wanted to fuck Daphne. You have to know who Daphne is.
You have to know who, like the people he was talking about. Mm-hmm.
Daniel (2): Now, this song is a complete outlier on this album, like a lot of the other songs, either they're super political or, they're about like the hardships , of life in Houston, or Yeah. They're like playing around with like weird sci-fi paradox. Mm-hmm. Language. it's like, okay, really trippy. Okay. really political. Okay. Heady sci-fi shit. And then cartoon orgy.
Estevan: I'm glad you said that because that's really how it is. Like creative people are so se sexual, that creative energy just brings out
Daniel: mm-hmm. Like
Estevan: disgusting thing.
Daniel: Yes. But
Estevan: it's very art. It's art. Yeah. It's like how, like, it makes you think. because of, it's the creative energy. He just, he just had to get it out.
Nichole: So is this Polly?
Estevan: I would say yes, because he had a relationship with multiple cartoons.
Laurel: Oh, all right. Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah. I was gonna say I like envisioning like, who framed Roger Rabbit? The whole like, tune town thing.
Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. am gonna do one of my leaps of imagination, like I have done in so many other is this poly and create a universe in which all cartoons are just in one giant open polyamorous relationship. and there is a perpetual orgy, and maybe you're not in the orgy all the time, but like people come and go from the orgy.
Yeah. Right?
Daniel: Wow. They come
Laurel: and go. Yeah, exactly.
Estevan: but if you think about it too, on Cartoon Network, it would be like those crossover episodes.
Laurel: They're all part of the same universe and they're all right. Fucking and in love with each other.
Daniel: Right. And Kay Reno. Mm-hmm. Had to be invited to the cartoon orgy by a cartoon.
Nichole: Yeah. So
Daniel: who is, who is his like regular cartoon partner
Nichole: who crosses over Who, who is his Roger Rabbit?
To his Bob Hoskins.
Daniel: Exactly what I'm saying. Yeah. And you know that they were fucking right.
Nichole: I have to dive into this world that y'all are building. Join us. Yeah. And say yes. Like, join us in Cartoon Orgy Land. Like I'm not gonna be the person who's no fuck, no. Cartoons are cartoons.
Laurel: Pause. What's up next?
Daniel: So next we're gonna jump all the way forward to 2005 and listen to Isa Playa by Houston Legend Pimp C.
Estevan: I really love this song. I'm a little in the middle because it's pimp culture.
Nichole: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Estevan: But pimp culture is ver That's why I like when the straight people be talking about, oh, I would never do that.
I'm like, you know, pimp culture has been around so long, it's kind of already happened. I'm not saying, it's, it was good. But what I'm kind of saying is like two women that he was, you know, doing what he was doing with it was a relationship, you know?
Mm-hmm. So it, it had those poly dynamics. uh, and that's what he's talking about
Daniel: I mean, in this specific song, there's not as much reference to actual uh, procurement, it reminds me of like, uh, Devon, the Dude stuff too. Yes. Where it's about like, all these other guys are not taking care of their partners sexually. Mm-hmm. And he's likehmm. Come on and spend time with me, I don't care what else you do.
I don't care. Kind of welcoming you into a universe that seems in this specific song a little bit more liberated mm-hmm.
Nichole: I, uh, needed to Google this because there is the lyric I just saw that and thought of you immediately and I was like, I was like, is it Fran Drescher? It has to be Fran Drescher. It's
Daniel: totally a reference to Fran Dresher. It's Fran Drescher. Yes. Has to be. Yes. Absolutely.
Nichole: Yes.
Daniel: And this is why I chose this song for you, Nicole.
We have Fran Drescher is like kind of a, sacrosanct deity in our house. She's, she's idol, she is a
Nichole: living legend. She's an angel. She is, she embodies both grace and style I would definitely agree that style. Mm-hmm. Right. Uhhuh?
Yes. I, I
Estevan: think I like how Cardi kind of Cardi B, she kind of does remnants of it.
Yes. Like she'll do like the suits and the little dress.
Nichole: Yes, yes,
Estevan: yes. Stuff. I love that. But yeah, I, I'm kind of a substitute her too.
Nichole: Yes.
Daniel: I'm gonna digress, I saw these Instagram posts where you were wrapping as Beyonce and as Lady Gaga.
Estevan: Okay. So, and it is so crazy 'cause I don't know if you guys seen it, but it, I'm, I'm viral, I'm going viral right now as we speak because, uh, it's a song by Summer Walker called Go Girl.
And basically she's kind of, uh, just kind of rapping on the song,
Daniel: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. You know,
Estevan: so everybody was kind of like, just making in front of it. Like, like, nanny, nanny, boo Boo, I see you. Like, it was like that. So I was like, oh, I just got the idea like at two, one o'clock in the morning and I was like, I should do it in like Beyonce's voice.
So I did that and I uploaded it at two 30, like 2:30 AM I remember uploading it when I woke up. I was everywhere. Like the blogs reposted it. Holy shit. All the Beha fans are in the comments like, we need to get Beyonce to put this on her Act three tour. Oh shit. And then I just, like, last night, queen Latifah reposted it.
Daniel: I was like,
Estevan: and she has like 8.4 million followers, so I'm like, I'm like a mini famous person. they were like, can you do other versions? I did Lady Gaga, and then I did Rihanna as well.
Daniel: So,
would you consider doing Fran Drescher?
Estevan: Oh, I don't think I could do it.
Daniel: I
Estevan: gotta really practice. I'm, I'm
Daniel: Jewish. I will give you permission.
Nichole: Oh my God. Okay.
Estevan: So if we do that, you gotta help me come up with some bars.
Daniel: Ooh. '
Estevan: cause that's why people like the songs is they like the bars because I'm taking stuff that the, uh, like Beyonce's actually doing, like I said sacred Before Dinner date, and Sacred is her new hair care line.
Uhhuh I got, and Sir Davis is her liquor that she just dropped. So it's stuff that I'm adding into it. Nice. But if we could come up with some bars. oh, implement her laugh. And like the, the, uh, blonde lady that she was always throwing shade at, I would love like a shady bar towards her.
Nichole: Yes.
Daniel: do it. Oh my God.
Estevan: Let this be a start. You go viral.
Don't say, don't say I didn't warn you. 'cause it does not stop the
Daniel: Did anybody else have anything
Nichole: to say about Pimp Sea? Oh, I was just really obsessed with Fran Dresher going. Yeah, no, I also like,
Laurel: I think I also like got stuck in the middle, like where Esteban was at a little too.
'cause it is like, yeah, there are some of the elements that are like a little bit more liberatory, but it's also still like very steeped in like pimp culture kind of stuff that's hard to like separate out
Daniel: it's what we would call non-consensual, non-monogamy, right? Yes. Because, they're, they're your employees, you're also in a relationship with them, but mm-hmm. Some of it's coercive, you know? Mm-hmm.
Estevan: It's business, honestly. Yeah.
I would say no.
Laurel: Okay. If I just have to pick a
Estevan: answer, I would say no. Yeah. This song, no.
Daniel: You gonna say no?
Laurel: Yeah, I'm gonna say no.
Nichole: I'm gonna say no, even though he references Fran Drescher, who is has a rotating cast Yeah. Of boyfriends. Yeah. And is actively non monogamous.
Daniel: Maybe this is how we finally get Fran drescher on the pod.
Oh
Nichole: my God. I feel like we've said her name 900 times. She And so by now, she needs to appear. She should appeared.
Daniel: She's not
Estevan: like Beetlejuice.
Nichole: You don't
Estevan: just, yeah. Maybe she's though. Yeah, maybe she's like Beetlejuice.
Daniel: I'm gonna say no as well. All
Laurel: All right. What's next? Our final tune.
Daniel: Our final song for today, one just ain't enough by choice.
Estevan: I loved her tone in this song. It was so salt and pepper. Uh, when did the, do you know when this one came out?
Daniel: This is 93 as well.
I love, love that year.
Estevan: Yeah. I was born in 94, so I was probably still in, in the oven when, uh, these were being recorded. And I gotta be honest, my mom used to listen to music like this, I would be like in the backseat, like bobbing my head listening.
So I think like my delivery when I rap is so, is so like powerful is, 'cause I was listening to a lot of this stuff. I, I still wonder why my mama was playing it, but I just think she didn't care. Like, she was just like, whatever, he gonna listen to it at some point. and it, it is crazy 'cause like nowadays they like, oh, female rap is just so provocative and
Laurel: Right. Yeah.
Estevan: Whopping you, you got the girls talking about their vaginas. I'm like, they've been doing this.
Yeah. What are you like, what is wrong with y'all? Like, yes,
Daniel: I think this song, , it is just all centered around sex. But she's like, this is the only way. This is it.
Nichole: Yeah. This is the only way
Daniel: I like to do it is with two dicks.
Nichole: Yes. Yeah.
Daniel: And I feel like there is something that kind of, flirts around with a polyamorous arrangement. Mm-hmm. Like in that setup.
Estevan: I liked it because when it comes to polyamory, I think things are a little bit more organized when women are in control.
It's just, it's just like, Hey, we're gonna get to the point. This is why I like it. So I do like to see, like, I like to see the dynamic of the man and the two women, but I really enjoy the one woman and the two men, and like the two men are actually like, fond of each other.
Daniel: Oh,
Estevan: yeah. Yeah. It's not like it's hot.
Laurel: Yeah. You know? Yeah.
Estevan: Like, 'cause it's like she's really like brainwashing, like, she's just like, Hey, we gonna do it and we're gonna make it work. That's it. Yeah.
Laurel: Yeah. especially for the time that it came out, like it's very radical. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Like, and I know there's like, there's always like this kind of perpetual debate of like, is it women's liberation or is it, some like self-imposed sexism, like when women sexualize themselves kind of thing.
Mm-hmm. But Yeah. . Like you're saying esan it is so commanding.
Estevan: Yes.
Laurel: Yeah. It is so fucking in control.
Estevan: It's cool. and it's just good to see the energy.
Laurel: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Estevan: Differently.
Laurel: Yeah. And I
Estevan: think, I just think shit gets done sometimes a little bit better when the woman is in control.
Daniel: To invoke. The power of Nicole in this conversation. A woman walks in to that fucking orgy and project manages the shit out of it. Right? Like you are like, you know, I got, okay, here's where the dicks go. Nope.
Nichole: I mean,
Daniel: move on. Trade holes.
Nichole: Trade holes. I don't know. I don't know that I project, I think I would set the stage so that the orgy goes well, right?
Right. I don't need to micromanage during the orgy. I need to make sure that windows can open so that there is air flow. All right. I need to make sure that the food is in another room. I need to make sure there is a lube fairy. I need to make sure that the bathrooms are accessible. I need to make sure that like essential
Estevan: oils Yes.
And like
Nichole: that there are comfortable places for people to fuck.
Estevan: Yes.
Nichole: that is how I imagine choice. she also will orchestrate.
Daniel: Yeah.
Estevan: but to actually put it on wax as a rapper, I'm going to tell you, we don't really put it on wax unless we actually done it.
Now, some people say some stuff that's like, oh, you can kind of tell, but from what I heard, no. She's experienced this before. Yeah. Oh, I love
Nichole: that.
Estevan: is it Polly?
I would say yes. I would say yes. And, and, and only reason I'm saying yes is because I just see her being a leader and her kind of guiding
Daniel: mm-hmm.
Estevan: Everybody into it. So even if she's with somebody and they don't think they're in a Bowie the whole time they're,
Daniel: they're in, they just
Estevan: like, you know, she just like, she kind of pimped it too.
Yeah. Like a female pimp.
Laurel: I like, I really wanna say yes. Mm-hmm. I really wanna say yes. Do I just say yes because I want to. I think like, I think the only thing that's holding me back is just that it is like, explicitly like a sexual dynamic thing. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And maybe doesn't permeate into other
Nichole: areas of life.
I mean, I guess she doesn't rap about. Them picking her up from the airport. Yeah. But like, you know, I was actually doing that where I was imagining a larger
Daniel: Aww.
Nichole: I was doing what you do Yeah. For this one, because I really want it to be true. So like, yes, I want to say yes and I'm just going to say yes because, because love, because I'm imagining you're imagining them making breakfast the next morning. Exactly. Yeah.
Daniel: there's another one from her first album, I got my own she's talking about all these men approaching her, trying to get her to rely on them and she's like, no, I am totally self-sufficient.
Mm-hmm. I feel like if you like parrot with that other song mm-hmm. Which is not fair.
Laurel: but, but you get more, yeah. You get more like solo poly vibes. I do. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you're gonna say yes,
Daniel: I'm gonna say yes.
Nichole: Okay.
Laurel: Nice. All right.
Daniel: Laurel is still
Laurel: Well, I can't be, I can't be the lone ranger here, so. Yes, yes. Okay.
Estevan: Yes. But no,
Daniel: I apologize first to Stewart Landia. We had promised a tarot reading, but we got too excited talking about hip hop from Houston in the nineties. So dresser and dresser and Fran dresser, who is one of my favorite Houston rappers.
Estevan: Oh my God. Only imagine that.
Daniel: Right? But we cannot let Esteban the God go without a spiritual moment.
Yes. So, I don't know what we're gonna call this segment. Anybody astrology. Oh my god.
Estevan: Or, who?
Daniel: Yes. po Yeah. Welcome to Astrological. Who? aScope.
my son is Aquarius. Oh, My moon is Taurus. Oh my God. And my rising sun is Sagittarius.
Estevan: Mm-hmm. Okay. So what I would just say from just that Aquarius, I get it now. I definitely get it. they know everything. So you knowing those songs, Aquarius, like they do deep dives, like they know songs that nobody knows. Like they just, they just those kind of like nerd people. Yeah. That like really like. They can break something down.
They know when it came out, what time it came out, uh, stuff. Do they also ask you if
Nichole: you remember the song even though it was written and produced and released before you were born?
Estevan: It's a lot of analytics that go along with, uh, with Aquarius and, uh, Taurus Moon. that's your emotional side. it's so funny because I literally said that.
I was like, if one of y'all were a taurist, I noticed that a lot of taurist people are always in poly relationships, Mm-hmm. So it makes sense. tours are also couch potatoes. Um, love to binge watch movies and TV shows. They have like a little stern side too, so.
, And you said a Sagittarius rising. Do you travel a lot?
Daniel: I do. For work, yeah.
Estevan: Yeah. Sagittarius people love to travel. Yeah. They love to be somewhere doing something at a airport out of town
Daniel: So, when you said stern, Laurel pointed at me because that's what I do when I'm, when I'm angry.
Nichole: Yeah. Yes. Yep.
Estevan: It's a bull. It's a bull Louis. And you can be mean, but it's like mean and like tough love type of thing. Thing y'all got going on.
Nichole: Yeah. Yeah. Actually, yeah. Yeah.
Daniel: Guys, it comes from a place of love.
Nichole: No, you do preempt with like, do you want tough love right now or do you want like placating
Daniel: and then you say P and then you say placating and I give you the tough love anyway.
Estevan: Yep.
Daniel: All right, next up Nicole. She is, Sun sign Capricorn. Oh my god. Moon sign. Virgo, oh my God. Ascendant sign. Capricorn.
Estevan: That's a lot of earth earth. That is
Nichole: all earth. I don't know what that means. Yeah, I don't know yet either.
Estevan: So earth signs are very, very hard workers.
needless to say, I'm team woman. So the woman side of these signs are always better than the male. Okay. The men are trash. I don't care what sign they are. It's trash, trash, trash, trash, trash, trash. But the women have like the best qualities of them.
So I would say, hard worker, Capricorn. I noticed with Capricorn women, they tend to be very like corporate baddies.
Laurel: Mm. Checks out. Yeah.
Estevan: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Corporate batty down, like office wait, so is is Nicole, is anybody a project manager?
Nichole: I'm. Yeah. So I was, I was a project manager. Now I'm a resource director.
Yeah.
Estevan: Yeah. That's the, that's the perfect thing for you. So Yes,
Nichole: you're
Estevan: gonna always be, over somebody's resources. Yes. Y'all do very good in that, in that realm.
So, Virgo, moon. it's a lot of like work.
So I, I would say the only advice I would give is just always try to like, have those off days.
Daniel: Mm-hmm. Or
Estevan: like those self-care days a Virgo and the Capricorn will die at their job if they could.
Daniel: Yeah. So don't do that. I am going to sample. Basically everything that Esteban just said, and I'm, I'm going to make, a song that you can, that you can just listen to all the time with Esteban telling you, stop working so hard, take some fucking time off.
Nichole: Having Capricorn rising too. Does that, is that just work on work on work?
Estevan: Yes. Yeah. It's that, and, and, and honestly, your rising is just how people view you. So when people see you, you look like a Capricorn.
Daniel: Yeah. And,
Estevan: and, and it probably just comes off that like people are scared to like come to the office with you or, but y'all are very loving too.
Nichole: Well, yeah, very loving. When I choose to show it, people, people have said that they're intimidated by me and that I, I have perfected resting bitch face Laurel, your turn
Daniel: Laurel's up next. We've got sun in Libra. Oh my god. Moon in Capricorn. Oh, cool. Okay. And ascendant Virgo. Oh, hmm. So you've got two out of three of Nicole's.
Yeah. Yeah.
Estevan: So we have two air signs with one earth sign.
So Nicole, how do you do it? How do you deal with these air?
Laurel: Oh my God, that's so on point. Oh my God.
Estevan: I love, love, love, love, Libras. I love Libras. the decision making, it's, it's just when it gets a little, like, can you please make a decision? Please?
Laurel: Yes, yes, yes. What do
Estevan: you want to do? When do you want to do it? And it's like, they know, but it's like they just need the validation.
Laurel: Mm.
Estevan: From somebody else, or they just need somebody to be like, Hey,
Laurel: yeah,
Estevan: just, I think it'll be better if you do this.
and then they'd be scared to ask for the validation. So it's another decision. So it's like decision making that And, Libra too have like a perfectionist thing with them.
Like, it has to be this way. If it's not this way, I'm going to like explode.
Daniel: Yeah.
Estevan: y'all are social people. Yes. Yeah. Y'all love to throw dinners and Yeah. And
Nichole: we do kickbacks.
Estevan: Yes. And you'd be like, oh, everybody come to my house. Oh my God. what was the moon?
Daniel: Capricorn.
I think
Estevan: you said Capricorn.
Daniel: Yeah.
Estevan: Right? Yeah. Yeah. Moon is Capricorn.
Daniel: Yeah.
Estevan: Which the moon signs represents your mother. that's how your mother dealt with you or how you dealt with your mother.
Daniel: Interesting.
Estevan: and then the rising was
Laurel: Virgo, VIR Virgo.
Estevan: So are you very organized and
Laurel: at work? Not at home.
Estevan: And you know what? The Virgo is very much that. It's, it's cute. Out in public, but when he home, when it gets home, it gets a little spunky and it'd be like, oh, like we gotta, let's, let's go ahead and do it.
So,
Daniel: but yeah. Even has layers like that. Like work Yeah. Very organized. Schedule. Pretty organized.
Laurel: Yeah.
Daniel: even at your home, like things that aren't your room.
Laurel: Yes. Anything that's like outward facing
Daniel: Uhhuh mm-hmm. Is organized,
Laurel: like things other people can see.
Daniel: Yeah.
Laurel: And then I save all of the mess for myself.
Daniel: So, so you just, you know, her, her house is pretty clean. And then you open, you come, go to a room and you open the door and just all this shit just
Estevan: falls out. Now. That's, that's the Libra, that's the Libra coming out Libra. It's, they're not dirty, they just have like, papers everywhere.
They got clothes that they was supposed to pack and it's stuff in the laundry. It's just, it's all over the place. But then they come together, they, they clean it up. 'cause people it's coming over because you invited them to come over for, for a get together and then it, it gets back dirty. Yeah.
Daniel: and then it's like.
You want to clean with me?
say yes,
Estevan: and everything will be fine.
Daniel: Thank you. Thank you.
Estevan: Yeah. But y'all have a, y'all have a really great dynamic.
Like it's, it's, it works. I think like with all the placements, I would say the only person that might have communication, if, if I'm being honest, is probably Nicole. Like, it, it takes her a little bit time to be like, okay, like I see your text. Okay. Um, but you two, you two love to communicate.
Y'all loved it. So it's, but it's a great dynamic. I think y'all, y'all probably gonna be in it for the long haul,
Nichole: like really long. Aw, yay. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I'll be here. I don't
Daniel: know if I'll be here.
Estevan: Yeah. Either InBody or in spirit, you know,
Nichole: is that,
